Production Leak Tester

Productive applications for leak-testing automotive's powertrain components

Fully automatic, complex, and highly flexible production leak test machine has been developed in 2012 to test both automatic transmission case and housing using air leak test method for main cavity and oil/lubrication channels including hole penetration checks and localized high pressurization leak test technique as optional feature.

Gantry or robot handling system with 2D vision camera, boss detection, laser/inkjet marking and manual dunk-in-water tester for localization of leakage points are all available. TeSys has multiple complete project experiences for Hyundai Motor Group & KIA auto transmission projects including multi-speed (4th/5th/6th/8th FWD/RWD/AWD) ATM, CVT, DCT and IVT products. Both mass-flow or pressure decay type dry air leak test method can be utilized for leak detection and measurement with high process repeatability and all passed work-pieces compared with the stipulated leak limit specification will be transferred to assembly line and so failed ones to leak localization check or repair works.

All leak test data can be saved and archived in leak test panel itself and/or uploaded to local data PC or external remote data management system (MES/TGPS).

Transmission case

as a main component of automatic transmission after completely machined, deburred and washed in machining line or pre-machined in die-casting plant must be ‘leak-free’ condition before any following assembly process. TeSys provides a fully automatic production leak test machine for transmission case application to test any external or internal leakage and measure actual leak rate against permissible leak specification for main cavity and oil/lubrication channels, using air leak test methods in either mass-flow or pressure decay measurement technique.

Converter housing

Maximization of the repetitive cycle and production efficiency in leakage test (tact-time or cycle-time)

The design featuring an index table and gripper for the optimization of cycle time and testing of various transmission cases, initially developed, has been patented.
